QR Code Generator

A QR code lets someone open a link or read a short message just by pointing a phone camera at it. Type or paste any text or URL below to generate a real, scannable QR code, built from scratch in your browser using standard QR encoding.

The QR code is built and drawn entirely in your browser. The text you enter is never uploaded to our server.

How to Use This Tool

  1. Type or paste the text or URL you want to encode.
  2. Choose an error correction level — Medium suits most uses; choose High if the code will be printed small or might get scuffed.
  3. Pick a size and, if you like, custom colors.
  4. Click Generate QR Code and download the PNG.

Why Use ToolVigo's QR Code Generator

  • Real QR encoding built from scratch — finder patterns, error correction and masking, not a placeholder image.
  • Four error correction levels, trading code density for damage resistance.
  • Custom foreground and background colors.
  • Works entirely offline in your browser once the page has loaded.

Limitations

Encodes text as raw bytes (no special optimization for numbers-only or uppercase-only text), and supports QR versions 1 through 10, which comfortably covers URLs and short messages up to a few hundred characters.

Privacy & Security

This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded to ToolVigo's servers or stored anywhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did it say my text is too long?

QR codes have a maximum data capacity that depends on the error correction level — higher error correction leaves less room for data. Try a shorter link (a URL shortener can help) or a lower error correction level.

Which error correction level should I use?

Medium (about 15% of the code can be damaged and still scan) is a solid default. Use High for codes that will be printed small, laminated, or placed somewhere they might get scratched or dirty.

Will custom colors stop it from scanning?

Keep strong contrast between the foreground and background — a dark foreground on a light background works best. Very similar colors can make the code unreadable to scanners.
